The Arlingtones barbershop mixed chorus is a non-profit a cappella group dedicated to preserving and performing barbershop music in Arlington VA, and the surrounding area. Founded in 1957, the chorus and chapter quartets have a well-known tradition of providing clean, wholesome, quality entertainment. The Arlingtones have had quite an impact on northern Virginia. In barbershop, the melody is usually sung in the second-highest voice part, which we call the “lead.” A high tenor (often a falsetto voice) sings simple harmonies above that melody. The lowest voice, the bass, sings the simpler low harmonies, and a baritone fills in the tricky stuff above and below the melody.
