Our Feature Guest Quartet - Pratt Street Power


Pratt Street Power is an award-winning, internationally-acclaimed youth barbershop quartet made up of four professional musicians based in Baltimore, MD. All of the singers in Pratt Street Power come from classical music backgrounds and have studied music in educational, compositional and performance-based mediums. Considered to be one of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s premier vocal quartets, the group came together in early 2016 with the intention of entering the International Youth Barbershop Quartet contest in Nashville, TN. In their first contest together, they were crowned 2016 International Youth Quartet champions and labeled by the Harmonizer magazine as one of the BHS’s “young powerhouses of today.” 
 
Following this success, the quartet refocused their efforts to embody genuine emotion and vulnerability in their performances as a model for the next generation of youth quartets. In doing this, Pratt Street Power has been invited to lead numerous youth camps across the country, and has worked with the Harmony Foundation to support their mission of enriching lives through singing by attending youth outreach events for young singers and encouraging young people to sing. Beyond their participation in these events, the quartet has also experienced international competition success. They are a two-time finalist in the International Quartet Competition, and won the Mid-Atlantic District Quartet Contest in 2019.
 
Pratt Street Power is made up of four best friends - Vince Sandroni, tenor; Ed Schubel, lead; Darren Schmidt, bass; and Ben Hawker, baritone. The foursome share a special bond, having a friendship that is unique and...quite weird! This bond gives their performances an energy that is authentic, exciting, and filled with joy. On October 5, 2024, The Arlingtones experienced a wonderful afternoon of close harmony!  The Arlingtones Barbershop Chorus embodies the spirit of sound, and we invited the community to join us on our vibrant musical journey to fill the auditorium with music and fellowship.
